VDSL Modems
The next step in high-speed internet access is VDSL. VDSL stands for “very high bit-rate DSL.” VDSL works similarly to regular DSL, only much, much faster. Whereas ADSL (the technology currently available, and what people mean when they refer to DSL) achieves only download speeds of up to eight Mbps, VDSL can achieve speeds of up to 52 Mbps, a significant upgrade in performance, and faster than any other technology currently commercially available.
VDSL has some of the same downfalls as ADSL, at least in terms of proximity to the source signal. However, most local phone companies are upgrading their external wiring so this shortcoming will no longer be an issue. VDSL, however, once it becomes commonplace, will allow for next-generation internet applications, like providing HDTV to your computer while simultaneously providing an internet connection; this is currently not possible with either ADSL or a cable internet connection.
VDSL Provides Solutions for Your Business
Let’s say your business has its network operating center and its central office at different locations. By utilizing VDSL technology, you may be able to save money by replacing your current equipment with VDSL modems that utilize existing copper wiring. Because VDSL technology supports both POTS (plain old telephone service) and a VDSL signal on one line, you can keep your internet connection open and still have regular telephone service.
Of course, when it comes time to set up your VDSL connection, you’ll need the proper equipment, starting with a VDSL modem. We provide your business with multiple product options and affordable solutions to your networking problems.
